I’ve been meaning to share this post for awhile, but today, as I stared at another empty pickle jar on my counter I knew I had great plans for, I knew I couldn’t waste another minute sharing this great info with you!
The first time I heard someone talk about drinking pickle juice as a “keto drink alternative” I was pretty sure they were crazy AF.
You want to drink Pickle Juice, go for it, but not me, Mr!
Well, never say never, and that reliable rule of the universe applies to me, as well!
So, without further adieu, I give you 5 amazing ideas for repurposing that gorgeous pickle juice you have in your fridge!
1.Drink It While Fasting
As I mentioned above, the first time someone suggested to me that I try drinking pickle juice as a form of “keto lifestyle” or a means for “gaining a fasting edge,” I was more than skeptical.
A fresh round of keto flu will make a believer out of any of us, however, and the next time I was fighting keto flu, and terrible fasting headaches, I decided to give it a whirl.
Friends, I’m here to tell you: It WORKS. Electrolyte depletion while fasting and surviving keto flu is absolutely real, and the faster you can get on top of it, the better you’re experience will be!
So, bottoms up! (Remember: drinking out of Mason Jars is cool now anyway. :))
2.Soak Your Boiled Eggs In Pickle Juice to Create Quick and Easy Pickled Eggs
Totally OVER boiled eggs while living the keto lifestyle? (Yeah, I hear ya).
A friend at the lake this summer taught me this awesome trick: Store your boiled eggs in your extra pickle juice! (In fridge, of course!)
Now, granted, after trying this myself, I have to warn you of a couple things:
- Your eggs WILL turn a (slightly) funny shade of green (but oh, are they delicious!)
- Like any other boiled eggs you might be storing in your fridge, follow recommended guidelines for eating them up in a reasonable amount of time (days and weeks, friends, not months and years).
- I personally didn’t feel like my pickle juice was up for more than one round of eggs, but….that’s just my personal opinion. Thankfully, we eat enough chicken salad around here, we have pickle juice more often then not.
Other great things to do with these eggs? They make EPIC deviled eggs and, of course, super quick and easy egg salad! (2/3’s of the ingredients are already there, ha!)
Lastly, never, EVER forget to add that signature Everything Bagel Seasoning to them when you eat them! Absolutely awesome.
3.Create a Fast and Easy Veggie Dip
Know you need more raw fruits and veggies but totally annoyed with your typical dips and dressings?
Pickle juice revives just about any dip in no time at all.
Mix a dash of pickle juice, sour cream, a little powdered ranch dressing mix, and voila! You have an amazing (fast and easy!) dip that also goes great on wraps and salads!
Remember, you can also easily exchange Cream Cheese or Plain Greek Yogurt for an equally tasty experience!
4.Soak Your Chicken In It
Take a tip from some of the most famous chicken makers of all time at Chick Fil A, and soak your chicken in pickle juice before preparing your awesome KETO CHICKEN NUGGETS.
Not only do they create the creamiest, most tender nuggets you ever dreamed possible, the process is totally keto! Yay!
5.Send Your Burgers Over the Top
Burgers are awesome. Especially on keto. They can get a little boring, however, if you’re eating them frequently (which many of us do).
We could dedicate an entire post to creative burgers, but some of our favorites include pickle juice!
A few ideas inlude:
- Add a dash of pickle juice and a sprinkle of powdered ranch dressing mix to your hamburgers before cooking.
- Try mixing small chunks of cheese, onion, and pickle juice in before cooking.
- After preparing the patties, try a drizzle of worcesture sauce, a sprinkle of pickle juice, and a dash of montreal style steak seasoning (be careful with this combination, however, as it tends to get salty quickly!)
And, lastly, because we ARE named Vitamins and Vodka, after all, I HIGHLY recommend adding a dash pickle juice to that vodka martini you’re about to pour. (Who cooks without alcohol? Seriously? Kidding…mostly).
So, what am I missing? I know so many of you out there have a ton of great tips and tricks. Care to share them? We’d love to hear from you!
